Desde que a atriz Zoe Saldana contou para a imprensa que uma cena de sexo entre os personagens dela e de Sam Worthington – na forma alienígina Na’vi – foi filmada, começaram especulações sobre como seria a tal cena íntima de Avatar.
A cena consta tanto no Argumento quanto no Roteiro e estão reproduzidas mais abaixo. A cena foi cortada da versão cinematográfica para diminuir a faixa de idade da classificação indicativa do filme, mas deve constar no DVD da obra, contou James Cameron ao Daily Telegraph.
Zoe explicou o ato: “Se você pode sincronizar com o “banshee” e você pode sincronizar com uma árvore, por que não sincronizar com uma pessoa? Eu quase sinto que você vai ter o orgasmo mais incrível.”
A especulação sobre bestialidade foi inevitável, já que o órgão sexual dos Na’vi se localiza na ponta de sua trança, e eles usam esse mesmo órgão para se conectar com os animais daquele mundo.
